Postgraduate Research Studentships in Psychology

Salary:

Applications are invited from students wishing to study for a PhD by research, with up to four studentships being offered in relevant areas. Applicants should propose a discrete area of enquiry falling within one of the following areas.

1 Health psychology - women and health (including issues related to alcohol, food and eating; and occupational health); women's reproductive health; and men's health. (Informal enquiries may be directed to Dr Sally Johnson, email: s.l.johnson@leedsmet.ac.uk)

2 Developmental disabilities and/or rehabilitation neuropsychology with implications for intervention: learning difficulties, behavioural and emotional difficulties, and aspects of rehabilitation neuropsychology. These studentships carry a bursary in excess of £12,000 p.a. (the figure for 2005-06 with the level for 2006-07 to be confirmed) plus payment of tuition fees (at rate for home/EU students). Contributions to fees for exceptional overseas (non-EU) students may be judged on a case-by-case basis. An allowance will also be made to support conference attendance and/or research expenses. There is a requirement to contribute to teaching in support of developing an academic career. The studentships are offered for up to three years subject to satisfactory progress towards completion of the PhD.

Applicants should have or expect to gain a good honours degree in Psychology (1st or II.1) and to have formulated an outline proposal for PhD research.
