The Communications and Public Relations Subject Group at Leeds Metropolitan University is one of the best known teaching departments in Europe specialising in undergraduate, postgraduate and professional courses in public relations. The group has national award-winning academics and produces students who win national and international prizes on an annual basis (CIPR, EUPRERA).
The group is seeking to appoint a full-time colleague for twelve months starting 1 December 2008 to cover for a member of the team who is taking a research sabbatical. Most of the work will be concentrated into two 12 week teaching semesters, though there will be additional responsibilities in terms of assessment and module management. The post will initially be based at the university's Headingley Campus in Leeds, moving to a new faculty building in central Leeds in mid 2009.
We are looking for an experienced public relations educator to join the team of 14 specialist communications academics in what is an exciting and evolving field of study.
You will have some experience of professional practice and previous teaching, lecturing or training experience. You will be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. Ideally, we are looking for someone to deliver team teaching on a range of predominantly theory-based modules such as: PR Theory at Level One; Persuasive Communications and Specialist Public Relations at Level Two; and Corporate Relations at Level Three.
You should be educated to an appropriate academic level and demonstrate a clear understanding and sound academic grounding in your subject specialisms. You will be student-centred with an interest in pedagogical and curriculum development as well as having relevant subject and research expertise and experience.
